Food Traceability

Food Traceability

Keeping track of products is vital for production in all industries from quality control to identifying bottlenecks in production lines. Product tracking is essential for preventing and identifying contamination and recalls in the food industry. Food traceability is now part of the law with the FDA’s Food and Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)’s Final Rule which will go into effect in January 2026. The rule requires all that manufacture, process, pack or hold food products on the Food Traceability List (FTL) to maintain records of the food products. The FTL includes cheese, eggs, peanut butter, vegetables, leafy greens, fruits, fish, shellfish, and ready-to-eat refrigerated deli salads. All packages of perishable foods must include a Traceability lot code. The most common and most effective food traceability process is adding a 2D barcode matrix to the food product packaging label. Finding the right labeler to meet safety regulations and guidelines that can also maintain the right speed, accuracy, and precision during the label application is critical for a productive food packaging process.

Hygienic Washdown Labeler

The Hygienic Washdown Labelers are robust, engineered with type 304 stainless steel, and passivated for corrosion resistance. The Labelers’ Clean-in-Place design provides minimal contamination points. This allows for minimal disassembly with easy cleaning and maintenance, therefore reducing your risk of contamination on the factory floor. The Labeler is mobile, utilizing a small footprint to quickly change workstation locations and be easily cleaned on the factory floor. The Hygienic Labelers meet IP69K requirements and exceed IP66/NEMA4X standards to ensure consistent washdown performance. The labeler is capable of running up to 12-inch wide labels. The adjustable angular peel plate is suitable for a wide range of applications. Separate unwind, drive, and rewind servo controls provide maximum control, stability, and performance.

Track and Trace System

Track and Trace System

The Track & Trace system offers turnkey product handling for serialization coding/printing, and an inspection and reject system providing a trackable data file. The trackable data files are essential to food traceability as FSMA Final Rule requires companies to have the necessary data available for FDA officials when requested.  Modular in design, the Track and Trace system can be customized and configured to fit your specific product needs. The system can easily be integrated into existing production lines. An infrared sensor allows for accurate counting using double-detect and overlap detection. This integrated manufacturing system has a highly adaptable software package that ensures flexible and precise controls.
